Maggie and I have always shared the same passion for hosting friends and family around our table. Nothing makes us happier than a dining room full of people enjoying a delicious meal together... and of course mason jars full of their favorite beverage. We want The Mason Jar Tavern to be that place for you and your friends and family. Whether you find yourself at our table after a hard day at work, a more than usually difficult day with the kids, or simply looking for a place to grab a bite, we hope you find our restaurant welcoming and exciting. We hope you will come to know  that at TMJT, "... Your jar is always full."




Maggie is an NC State graduate and a Professional Engineer for Hazen and Sawyer. By day she designs drinking water treatment plants and by night she pours beers, greets guests, and helps servers ensure every customer has a great experience. She is the glue that kept the dream together over the past year while I heard "no" from 23 banks, fought to get the best location, and worked endlessly to get investors on board. She never let me give up on the dream. If you enjoy TMJT, you have her to thank.




I worked in restaurants since I was 16. I spent 4 summers at an outdoor center in Bryson City (home town) working as a server, cook, and manager. I loved every aspect of the industry. After going through the Entrepreneurship Program in the Poole College of Management at NC State, I met Robert and Ashley Royster and Ryan Pilz who brought me into their family at Ruckus Pizza, Pasta, and Spirits. After managing Ruckus in Cary for two years, I met Maggie and decided to start working on my own concept. The things I learned from Ruckus are invaluable and gave me the confidence to open my own place.

Steven & Joanna Cook

When Maggie and I started trying to get financing, we quickly realized we were not going to get a bank loan for a startup restaurant without a few partners. We ended up getting 16 investors (mostly friends and family) and still needed a couple major partners to get the banks on board. Joanna and Steven's love for good food, great community, and quality service made TMJT an attractive venture. Without their willingness to take the risk with us, TMJT would still be a distant dream. Joanna and Steven live just 10 minutes from TMJT and you will likely see them and their two beautiful kids Bryce and Halley.

Chef Chris Tucker

Chef Tucker has over 20 years of experience in the industry. Tucker's love for comfort food and attention to detail makes him the perfect fit for TMJT. His wife Carissa has supported him throughout his career and helped him realize his potential as a chef and kitchen manager. Bacon, butter, cheese, bourbon, and red wine are just a few of his favorite things. TMJT is lucky to have such a talented chef and someone who takes every dish we sell seriously. Getting the chance to eat Chef Tucker's food is a privilege I get to experience every day.

If you have not met Jaime yet, you should. She has a passion for creating quality food in a fun atmosphere. Her attention to detail and focus on quality has made her an amazing addition to the TMJT Family. Jaime has been an Executive Chef at some of the Triangle’s best restaurants and is now using her expertise in the kitchen and in the dinning room at The Mason Jar.
